Which position is ideal for the plaster cast of the abdomen?

Before making the plaster cast, the belly, the chest as far as the armpits and the sides of the trunk should be covered in a thick layer of Vaseline and body oil. The most comfortable sitting position for the plaster cast of the belly is on a chair in a slightly reclined position, so that the belly is not compressed. For this purpose, a pillow can be positioned to support the back. The sitting position should be as relaxed as possible, but the best result of the plaster cast can be achieved standing up. The procedure can take up to an hour. Then the plaster cast should be allowed to dry for about 20 minutes.

Preparation for the plaster cast

First, cut wide plaster bandages to size, dip them briefly in warm water and place them on the body area that is to be portrayed. Make two layers of wide bandages and then cover the subtleties and remaining thin parts with the narrow bandages. Some women only want a cast of their belly, while others would like to have their chest and belly pictured. The amount of bandages needed is dependent on that decision.

Plaster cast of belly – model from top to bottom

It has proven useful to model the cast from top to bottom. The first plaster bandage is best placed across the chest. The individual plaster bandages should always overlap at the edges and not have any wrinkles. Each line should follow the body contours as smoothly as possible. At the edges of the plaster cast of the belly, the ends of the plaster bandages should be folded over to prevent fraying and to make the edge more stable and aesthetic.

Cast of the belly – alterations are possible

The plaster dries quite fast. If, in the dry state, there are still thin or unstable parts, you can still work on them. After the plaster belly has completely dried out, it can also be smoothed with model plaster or sandpaper and painted as desired. There are no limits to the imagination.
